About the Role
This Business Development Executive – Institutional Growth role focuses on driving institutional adoption of Aave’s products, including Horizon—Aave’s institutional offering designed to enable compliant access to DeFi for regulated financial institutions.
Working closely with leadership, product, engineering, and risk teams, you will:
- Build strategic relationships with key partners.
- Identify growth opportunities.
- Help shape product direction based on market and client needs.
Success in this role requires both strategic thinking and deep technical, operational, and market engagement to support partner engagement and execution.

How You Can Make an Impact
- Become a leading expert in Aave’s DeFi product suite, including the Aave Protocol, Horizon, and GHO.
- Develop and execute Aave’s institutional DeFi business development strategy, balancing near-term commercial opportunities with long-term market development.
- Collaborate closely with the CSBO, leadership, growth, product, engineering, risk, and marketing teams to:
- Shape institutional offerings.
- Support go-to-market strategies.
- Launch new products.
- Build and deepened relationships with financial institutions and institutional partners, translating their needs into tangible opportunities for Aave.
- Work with key ecosystem collaborators, including:
- DeFi projects.
- Centralised exchanges (CeFi).
- Blockchain protocols.
- Other industry leaders.
- Represent Aave Labs at key industry events and conferences, ensuring strong ecosystem presence.
- Serve as PR representative and public spokesperson for Aave within institutional circles.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or strategic growth within:
- Financial services.
- Digital assets.
- Fintech.
- Related industries.
- Proven ability to:
- Build and manage strategic partnerships.
- Structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements, engaging with senior stakeholders across business, legal, product, and technical teams.
- Deep understanding of DeFi, digital assets, and blockchain technology, alongside a genuine belief in decentralised infrastructure’s role in shaping future financial services.
- Knowledge of institutional DeFi and the evolving regulatory landscape impacting digital asset adoption by financial institutions.
- Ability to:
- Identify, prioritise, and execute on high-impact opportunities.
- Balance strategic vision with hands-on execution.
- Exceptional:
- Communication and negotiation skills.
- Interpersonal skills to drive deals and projects.
- Strong reputation and extensive network with industry leaders across capital markets.

Compensation Range: $180,000 - $220,000 per year
