Commercial Director – Plant & Construction Sector
Salary: £85,000 – £95,000 + Bonus + Potential Equity
Location: UK
Sector: Plant, Construction, Industrial & Heavy Equipment
The Opportunity
We are working with an established and growing business operating across the plant, construction, industrial, quarry, and heavy equipment sectors, who are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Director to lead their next stage of growth.
This is a key leadership position for a commercially driven individual who can take ownership of the commercial strategy, develop new opportunities, and increase market share across the sector.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead sales, business development, and key account activity, with a clear focus on profitable growth, customer relationships, and long-term commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver the overall commercial strategy and growth plan
- Identify and win new business opportunities across the plant and construction markets
- Grow and develop existing strategic customer accounts
- Build strong relationships with senior customers, suppliers, and industry partners
- Lead commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, and tender submissions
- Identify new markets, sectors, and opportunities for expansion
- Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team
- Work closely with Operations and Finance to improve commercial performance and customer satisfaction
- Monitor sales pipelines, financial performance, and key commercial initiatives
- Present commercial performance and growth plans to the Board

About You
We are looking for an experienced commercial leader with a background in one or more of the following:
- Plant
- Construction
- Tyres
- Industrial services
- Heavy equipment
- Quarry or related sectors
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience leading sales, business development, or commercial functions
- A track record of winning new business and delivering revenue growth
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills
- Experience managing strategic customer relationships
- Experience leading and developing sales or commercial teams
- A strong understanding of the plant and construction marketplace
- The ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on when required
- An entrepreneurial and results-focused approach
