Job Description
Job Purpose:
Your purpose is to set the highest possible professional standards and help deliver growth for the London Commercial Team, the Valuation Service Line, and Lambert Smith Hampton as a whole. As a director, you will be responsible for a range of designated activities that will ensure a top-quality service to our clients while simultaneously driving high-level team contribution and engagement in everything we do.
The role involves deputising for the team leader, line management, and quality control within the team of seven fee earners and playing a lead role in key client management nationally. The team provides single and portfolio valuations, market appraisals, and consultancy services across the full spectrum of commercial real estate across London and the Home Counties.
In conjunction with the team and service line leaders, you will play a leading role in executing the business plan that sets out defined KPIs and your team's P&L. You should seek to identify opportunities for growth within your local market and nationally and strive to establish yourself as an authority in real estate valuations in your local market, encourage innovation and compliance internally, and elevate LSH’s proposition through business development, marketing, and client care initiatives.
Key Objectives
- Set the Example. Be relentlessly positive, motivate team members, adhere to the highest standards of quality and compliance, and inspire an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Management. Regularly manage junior resources within the team and support the team leader to ensure optimal profitability and good/poor performance is addressed early. Understand the current workload, bottlenecks, under/over-utilised resources, and reallocate accordingly. Be answerable to performance against defined KPIs.
- Improve the Team. Take responsibility for how we work. Suggest improvements, respond to problems quickly, and celebrate successes. Drive and support business change. Identify and drive local change opportunities to improve service offering. Set the example and enforce best practice relating to audit and compliance responsibilities.
- Grow the Business. Actively pursue new business leads. Exploit cross-sell opportunities within the service line and beyond and empower everyone in your team to do the same. Participate fully in the company’s client development activity. Consistently achieve fee income of 3x cost from existing instructions. Target additional income from new business instructions.
- Communicate Effectively. Be approachable and transparent, concise, and timely in your communication to team members, divisional leadership, and your peers.

Performance Measures
Required
Your performance will largely be measured against the KPIs agreed with team heads at the start of the year. At the very least, you are required to:
- Achieve year-on-year growth in turnover and contribution in line with the team's plan.
- Assist in managing a cost-efficient and profitable team with stabilised contribution levels of 45% (minimum) and minimal aged debts (<10% of YTD revenue). Note this level may be subject to periodic review and change by the business.
- Comply with all procedures, including those relating to the Valuation Division’s control documents and the Company’s accreditations, memberships, and policies and procedures. Ensuring >75% of audited files are compliant within the internal audit process.
- Contribute to team culture, structure, and strategy through mentoring and retaining junior talent.
- Provide accurate information in a timely manner to support business plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Actively promote the highest professional standards and rigorous use of systems, policies, and processes.

Influence the performance of others to encourage and enable them to meet or exceed performance objectives. Provide mentorship to others to enable LSH to grow the depth and complexity of valuation advice the firm provides to its clients.
- Teamwork. Work collaboratively and productively with others, openly exchanging information, and support colleagues from around the organisation to achieve business goals.
- Business Development. Develop a relationship with clients in a way that enables the business to gain maximum value from the relationship. Consistently generate repeat value from existing clients and consistently generate fee income through new business. Cross-sell and generate ongoing business wherever possible.

Technical Skills
- Understanding of commercial property valuation, ideally for loan security and balance sheet purposes.
- Track record and knowledge of undertaking commercial property valuations and valuation appraisals, including the use of KEL and Argus (or similar) valuation software.
- Strong command of written English and ability to write high-quality valuation reports.
- Computer Literacy, specifically in Microsoft Office and Excel.
