About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Director* Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) to lead CBM’s newly refocused CBID Initiative. In this senior leadership role, you will shape the strategic direction of Inclusive Community Support and Care, Inclusive Education, and Inclusive Livelihood, strengthen CBM’s leadership in disability-inclusive development, and drive greater impact for persons with disabilities through community-based approaches worldwide.
This full-time position is only filled locally in one of CBM permanent established entities. (ex: Bensheim (Germany), UK (Cambridge or remote), Nairobi (Kenya), Abuja (Nigeria), Lomé (Togo), Yaoundé (Cameroon), Lusaka (Zambia), Addis Abeba (Ethiopia), Guatemala City, Kampala (Uganda), Niamey (Niger), etc.).
Local contractual conditions of the respective country will apply. An expatriation is not intended.
These Are Your Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and management of the CBID Division.
- Lead, develop and inspire a globally distributed team of CBID and technical advisors.
- Manage divisional resources, people, budgets and performance to achieve organisational objectives.
- Position CBM and the CBID work in key global, regional and national processes and alliances which are related to the work of CBID.
- Develop and implement the global CBID strategy and implementation framework within CBM’s overall strategy.
- Monitor emerging sector trends and position CBM as a thought leader in community based inclusive development.
- Grow CBID within CBM as a core pillar of CBM’s strategy.
- Ensure attractiveness of CBM’s CBID work for Individual and Institutional Donors.

Technical Leadership & Quality
- Develop and maintain technical standards, guidance and tools for CBID programming in the areas of Inclusive Community Support and Care (ICSC), Inclusive Education, Inclusive Livelihood.
- Provide guidance to the ICSC team and the advocacy team lead.
- Directly manage the advisors for Inclusive Livelihood and Inclusive Education.
- Bring clear approaches (definition, concepts, methods, tools) in the respective technical areas in place.
- Provide strategic oversight of programme quality.
Resource Mobilisation & Organisational Sustainability
- Contribute to resource mobilisation strategies and donor engagement.
- Support development of high-quality funding proposals.
These Are Your Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, Disability Studies, Social Sciences or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of international development experience at managerial level.
- Extensive expertise in disability-inclusive development and community-based approaches.
- Ability to define and drive global strategies, translate vision into action, and align diverse stakeholders around common objectives.
- Proven capability to lead, coach, and develop multicultural and geographically dispersed teams while fostering collaboration, inclusion, and accountability.
- Professional English; German, French and/or Spanish desirable.
- Identification with Christian values and the mandate of CBM
