Director, Compliance Counsel

Our client is a growing specialty pharmaceutical company seeking a Director, Compliance Counsel to join its Legal & Compliance team. Reporting directly to the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, this individual will play a key role in building and enhancing the company's healthcare compliance program as the organization expands its commercial footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the General Counsel to build and enhance the company's healthcare compliance program
  • Advise on healthcare compliance matters including AKS, FCA, HCP interactions, Sunshine/Open Payments, and promotional compliance
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for a growing commercial sales organization
  • Serve as a key compliance stakeholder in the Medical, Legal & Regulatory (MLR) review process
  • Support compliance monitoring, investigations, policy development, and risk assessments
  • Collaborate with commercial and executive leadership to drive a culture of ethics, compliance, and business partnership

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 8+ years of healthcare compliance experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industry
  • Strong knowledge of AKS, FCA, Sunshine/Open Payments, and broader commercial healthcare compliance issues
  • Experience supporting commercial organizations and training pharmaceutical sales teams
  • Prior MLR committee participation and promotional review experience
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and operate independently in a fast-paced environment
