Corporate Finance Director / Senior Director

You bring in the deals. When do you get to own the business?
You’ve built relationships, won mandates and delivered deals. Now you want more say in the business and a meaningful share in what you’re helping to grow.
This M&A adviser is looking for a commercially minded Director or Senior Director to help lead its Manchester growth.
There is an existing deal team, dedicated origination support and a route into local office equity, with the potential to progress into group equity further down the line.
What would you be building?
A stronger Manchester and North West M&A business, focused on entrepreneurs and owner-managed companies.
You’ll develop relationships, win mandates and lead transactions, while helping shape the team and its position in the market. As you progress into Partner, that develops into responsibility for the office’s people, P&L and continued growth.
There is scope to make your mark, with senior leadership prepared to back someone who has the ambition and ability to build.
What’s behind you?
- An existing Manchester team with senior deal experience and execution resource.
- A full-time BD professional dedicated to Manchester, speaking with entrepreneurs and generating introductions.
- Internal referrals from UK and European colleagues.
- International buyer access, shared transaction intelligence and sector credentials to strengthen your pitches.
- Central support and funding for entrepreneur events and local business development.
- Regular collaboration with Directors and Partners across the European network.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You bring your relationships and commercial judgement. The platform gives you more to work with.
Time to build
The leadership understands that a new relationship doesn’t become a completed deal overnight. Year one is viewed as an investment period. They’ll look at the engagements you’re winning, the pipeline you’re developing and the progress you’re making, alongside completed fees.
There are commercial expectations, but there is also recognition that a sustainable business takes time to establish.
The ownership opportunity
There is a route into equity Partner for someone who can demonstrate their contribution and take on responsibility for the office.
Beyond local ownership, successful Partners can potentially progress into group equity. That gives you an interest in the Manchester business you help develop and, over time, the wider platform.

This will suit you if…
- You’re a Corporate Finance or Lead Advisory Director, Senior Director or salaried Partner ready for more influence and ownership.
- You can lead transactions and have credible relationships across the North West.
- You enjoy meeting business owners, opening conversations and turning relationships into mandates.

It won’t suit you if…
- You want the firm’s name and platform to generate all your work.
- Your preference is pure execution, with little appetite for origination.
- You’re uncomfortable picking up the phone, developing new relationships or getting out into the local market.
- You want a Partner title without the responsibility of helping grow the business.
If you’re already thinking about what you could build with that support, let’s talk.
