Director of Data

Permanent | £150,000 – £160,000
Location: UK / Remote

We’re partnering with a growing, technology-led organisation to appoint an experienced Director of Data.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior data leader to take genuine ownership of data strategy, delivery and capability, shaping the future of the data function while influencing wider business strategy.

You’ll have the autonomy to build the foundations for a scalable, commercially focused data environment, bringing together strategy, technology, governance and people leadership.

The Opportunity

As Director of Data, you’ll define and lead the organisation’s data strategy and long-term roadmap, ensuring data is effectively collected, managed, analysed and used to support commercial and operational decision-making.

Working closely with senior leadership, you’ll lead and develop the data function while overseeing data architecture, governance, platforms, analytics and emerging technologies.

This is a hands-on strategic leadership role suited to someone who can combine strong technical understanding with commercial thinking and the ability to influence at executive level.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role in shaping and developing the organisation’s data capability by:

  • Defining and owning the data strategy and long-term roadmap.
  • Leading and scaling a high-performing data function across areas such as Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Science and BI.
  • Establishing robust approaches to data governance, quality, architecture, security and management.
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of data products, platforms and analytics capabilities.
  • Identifying opportunities to use data more effectively across the wider organisation.
  • Translating business objectives into clear, commercially focused data initiatives.
  • Ensuring data architecture and infrastructure can support continued business growth.
  • Championing the use of AI, automation and emerging technologies across the data function.
  • Developing meaningful reporting and insight capabilities to support commercial decision-making.
  • Managing data-related suppliers, technology partners and third parties where required.
  • Communicating complex data concepts and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Building a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and technical excellence.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
