Join us in shaping the future of holiday experiences across our P&O Cruises and Cunard ships as a key senior management person within our maritime department.

At Carnival UK, we believe in the power of diversity to drive success, valuing a blend of backgrounds, experiences, and skills. If you're a maritime professional with a strategic mindset and a track record of overseeing a department, let's talk. We're not just looking for qualifications on paper; we're searching for someone who can bring fresh ideas and a new perspective to our team.

Role Overview

The Environment team sets and champions Carnival UK’s environmental ambition, performance and governance across the P&O Cruises and Cunard fleets and shoreside operations. The team works across Maritime, Sustainability, Commercial and Operations to embed environmental excellence into operational and strategic decision-making.

As a Director, Environment, you'll play a pivotal role in steering the direction of our Maritime Team. You will not only shape our strategic initiatives but also inspire a team of maritime professionals to excel in their roles.

Job Requirements

This role demands a blend of strategic vision & technical expertise. We're looking for someone with:

  • Senior leadership experience setting and governing environmental strategy, compliance and assurance in maritime or an equivalent regulated, asset-intensive industry.
  • Experience governing externally audited ISO-certified management systems and engaging authoritatively with regulators and industry bodies.
  • An environmental degree, equivalent professional qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Formal training in ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems or equivalent senior leadership experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
