Director, Financial Reporting & Internal Controls

About the Role
The Director, Financial Reporting & Internal Controls is responsible for the Company’s consolidated financial reporting, technical accounting, global statutory reporting and audit activities, and oversight of the internal control environment. This role will oversee a small team, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, workload prioritization and performance support while ensuring high-quality execution of key reporting and control deliverables. The role partners closely with senior finance leadership, regional finance teams, cross-functional stakeholders and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the Company’s quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with IFRS.
- Support quarterly and annual reporting processes and review significant accounting entries and adjustments.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of financial reporting across the organization.
- Lead the consolidated financial statement audit, acting as the primary relationship manager with external auditors, coordinating key deliverables, reviewing and participating in the negotiation of audit fees, and resolving audit and accounting matters.
- Serve as a key technical accounting resource and lead the assessment and documentation of complex and non-routine transactions under IFRS, including revenue recognition, share-based compensation, leases, pensions, restructuring and provisions, impairments, business combinations, legal entity restructuring and other complex accounting matters.
- Monitor new accounting standards and developments and assess their impact on the Company’s financial reporting and accounting policies.
- Oversee global statutory financial statements, audits and required filings across multiple jurisdictions, including managing the statutory audit calendar, coordinating with local finance teams, external auditors and service providers, monitoring progress and driving timely completion.
- Oversee the financial internal control environment, including monitoring key controls, identifying control gaps and supporting remediation activities.
- Partner with Tax, Treasury, Legal and other functions on significant transactions, restructurings and other accounting matters.
- Support acquisitions, integrations, legal entity restructurings and other strategic initiatives from an accounting and financial reporting perspective.
- Drive continuous improvement and standardization of financial reporting, statutory audit and related finance processes.
- Lead, coach and develop a small team, including setting priorities, assigning work, providing timely feedback and supporting professional growth.
- Promote a collaborative, high-performance team environment with clear expectations, effective communication and accountability for deliverables.
- Support ad hoc projects and transactions as required.

Requirements
- Must hold a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, ACA, or ACCA).
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably including experience in a large multinational organization and/or public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS.
- Experience in preparing consolidated financial statements and related disclosures.
- Strong technical accounting research and documentation skills.
- Experience managing external audits and global statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience working across multiple legal entities, jurisdictions and finance teams.
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate complex accounting matters clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Demonstrated people management experience, including coaching, developing and managing the performance of direct reports in a finance or accounting environment.
- Experience with SAP, BlackLine and financial consolidation/reporting systems is an asset.

Vacancy: Replacement
Salary Range: $130,000- $150,000
