About the role
KPMG's Fixed Asset Tax Services (FATS) team brings together tax advisers, accountants, construction specialists, and quantity surveyors. The team supports organizations across a wide range of sectors with fixed asset tax matters, including capital allowances claims and technology-enabled delivery.
We are looking for a Director to lead and grow our fixed asset tax services. The role will combine technical leadership, client relationship management, business development, and people leadership. You will oversee high-quality capital allowances work, strengthen delivery processes, and collaborate with tax technology and risk specialists to develop practical solutions for clients and internal teams.
This is a national role, working with colleagues across the United Kingdom. We value different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds, and aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute and develop.
Roles and responsibilities
- Grow the FATS business by winning new work, expanding client relationships, and supporting the sale of client-facing technology solutions.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and lead discussions on capital allowances, fixed asset tax matters, and relevant technology solutions.
- Lead business development opportunities, proposals, pitches, and presentations for new and existing clients.
- Oversee the technical and financial elements of engagements, including the accurate quantification and documentation of capital allowances claims and elections.
- Manage a portfolio of tax and technical work, balancing project priorities, resources, quality, and risk requirements.
- Advise on the adoption of software and artificial intelligence capabilities to improve delivery processes and develop new offerings.
- Collaborate with tax technology, risk management, and wider tax colleagues to create solutions and identify market opportunities.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members, while liaising with HM Revenue & Customs specialists to support the agreement of claims.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
