Cush is seeking Directors for the trading arm of Age UK Milton Keynes, Cush Furniture
This volunteer role will help form the strategy, governance and financial oversight for the company.
What difference will you make?
Ensuring that Cush Furniture runs smoothly and profitably, will provide Age UK Milton Keynes with the highest returns possible. This in turn will ensure that more older people in Milton Keynes can be helped to stay in their own homes, avoid isolation and loneliness and can help change the way we age.
What are we looking for?
Although previous Director experience is not a requirement, the desired qualities for our Directors should include integrity, commitment, financial and risk management, teamwork and adherence to Nolan's seven principles of public life.

What will you be doing?
Cush Furniture was established in 2021 to help support the work of Age UK Milton Keynes and is wholly owned by the charity. All non-operating profits are donated to the charity, making Cush a vital part of ensuring that Age UK Milton Keynes continues to support the older people of Milton Keynes.

The Board consists of 3 - 6 volunteer Directors who will be responsible for strategy, governance, financial oversight, risk management, and legal compliance. As such, the Directors will:
- Set strategic direction
- Monitor performance
- Appoint and assess the Managing Director
- Ensure compliance
They must act in the company's best interests, managing risk and representing stakeholders, utilising their expertise to support decision-making and provide guidance on new initiatives.
