Global Materials Planning & Logistics Leader

Location: Gloucestershire, UK (Hybrid 2-3 days per week)

Rate: £70-80 per hour via Umbrella

Duration: 6 Months

Job Summary:

This is an exciting, yet critical transformation leadership role with a key global client, providing an opportunity to reset and modernise the end-to-end materials planning and logistics operating model across a complex global aerospace manufacturing and MRO environment. Playing a key role in unlocking the next phase of operational performance and growth.

The Global Materials Planning & Logistics Leader will lead the stabilisation, standardisation, and transformation of planning, inventory, material flow, and logistics performance to improve delivery, increase schedule reliability, strengthen data integrity, and enable future growth. This leader will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution — diagnosing structural process and system gaps, building the roadmap, and directly leading the operational changes required to create a more predictable, scalable, and resilient supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end transformation of the global materials planning and logistics model, spanning master scheduling, materials planning, inventory management, material execution, logistics, and production alignment.
  • Establish robust operating mechanisms including S&OP / SIOP, materials reviews, escalation pathways, and performance management cadences to improve visibility, accountability, and execution discipline.
  • Improve delivery and materials availability performance by increasing schedule stability, reducing shortages and disruption, and strengthening cross-functional alignment across sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and customer-facing teams.
  • Drive inventory productivity and working capital improvement while protecting service levels, quality standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strengthen ERP/MRP planning effectiveness and data governance, improving planning parameter accuracy, transaction discipline, and decision-making quality.
  • Build a high-performing organisation and culture grounded in lean principles, standard work, problem solving, and respect for people; coach leaders, elevate team capability, and create robust succession plans for critical roles.
  • Partner across the enterprise to influence functional strategy, resource prioritisation, capacity planning, and operational readiness in support of near-term recovery and long-term growth.
  • Ensure uncompromising adherence to safety, quality, export/control, and regulatory requirements in a civil and military aerospace environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
