The Role

As our Director, Global Payroll Process Leader, you will own the strategy, governance, and end-to-end delivery of payroll across LivaNova worldwide, including direct oversight of US payroll. You will ensure accurate, timely, compliant, and consistent payroll delivery while driving the transformation, standardization, and simplification of the global payroll operating model.

You will partner with HR, Finance, Tax, Legal, Procurement, IT, Internal Audit, shared services, and external payroll providers to strengthen controls, improve service delivery, and create a trusted payroll experience for employees.

This is an opportunity to shape and modernize a global payroll function, leading transformation across a complex multi-country landscape while acting as the senior escalation point for payroll matters at the leadership level.

Base salary range:

  • Italy: €97,500 - €146,250

  • Germany: €112,500 - €168,750

  • UK: £178,750 - £118,125

  • Bonus target: 20% (note that actual percentage may vary based on business and program considerations)

What You’ll Do

  • Own the global payroll strategy and roadmap, ensuring alignment with HR and business priorities while delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll across all regions, including direct oversight of US payroll.
  • Establish strong payroll governance, controls, and compliance, ensuring consistent validations, checks, and approvals while leading internal, external, and statutory audits and addressing corrective actions.
  • Lead global payroll transformation, including supplier consolidation, operating model modernization, process standardization, simplification, automation, and continuous improvement to reduce manual effort and operational risk.
  • Manage the global payroll ecosystem, including shared services and external payroll providers, setting service levels and KPIs, monitoring performance, and leading supplier selection, contracting, and onboarding where required.
  • Champion the employee payroll experience, ensuring employees receive accurate, timely, and easy-to-understand pay while simplifying employee-facing processes, communications, and query resolution.
  • Own the payroll technology roadmap, partnering with IT to enhance payroll, HCM, and time & attendance systems and ensuring effective integration with HR and Finance systems.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing global payroll team, working across geographically dispersed and multicultural environments while partnering with HR, Finance, Tax, Legal, Procurement, IT, and Internal Audit and serving as the senior escalation point for payroll matters.

Your Background & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; a relevant professional payroll certification is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience, with proven responsibility for payroll across multiple regions and knowledge with US payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-regional payroll practices, statutory requirements, tax regulations, payroll controls, compliance frameworks, and audit readiness.
  • Proven experience leading payroll transformation and operational improvement, including process standardization, simplification, automation, supplier consolidation, and shared services operating models.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities, with experience managing external suppliers, implementation partners, and geographically dispersed teams, combined with excellent communication, executive presence, project management, analytical, and risk-management skills.
