Director – Government Relations / Corporate Affairs

Location: Central London – Hybrid
Salary: £70,000–£120,000 depending on experience
Contract: Permanent, Full-time

The Opportunity

We’re working with an award-winning corporate affairs consultancy looking for a Director to join its growing Government Relations team.

This is a senior and influential hire within a highly regarded consultancy that combines government relations and public affairs with strategic communications, media, digital, creative, and insight capabilities.

This established agency works with major UK and international organisations across a diverse range of sectors, with particular growth across technology, energy, and defence. It offers the opportunity to advise high-profile clients on complex political, reputational, and communications challenges while playing an important role in the continued growth of the business.

The Role

You’ll lead senior client relationships and account teams, combining political and public affairs expertise with an integrated approach to communications and a strong commercial mindset.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a trusted senior adviser to major clients on political, policy, and reputational issues.
  • Developing integrated campaigns spanning public affairs, strategic communications, media, digital, and thought leadership.
  • Managing account teams and developing high-performing consultants.
  • Leading pitches and converting new-business opportunities.
  • Contributing to the agency’s wider growth, marketing, and innovation initiatives.

About You

We’re looking for a commercially minded public affairs / strategic comms professional, likely to be an established Director or an experienced Associate Director ready to step up.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Significant experience across public affairs/government relations, ideally alongside broader strategic or corporate communications.
  • Strong agency or consultancy experience, although relevant in-house backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Excellent senior client advisory, account leadership, and team management skills.
  • Commercial confidence and experience pitching for and winning new business.
  • A creative, integrated approach that goes beyond traditional public affairs.
  • Strong political knowledge and networks, with Labour connections or experience highly desirable.
  • Gravitas and credibility combined with an energetic, collaborative, and hands-on approach.

Sector experience is flexible, although backgrounds spanning areas such as technology, energy, defence, and other highly regulated sectors could be particularly relevant.

The salary range is £70,000–£120,000 depending on experience, reflecting the flexibility to consider both high-potential Associate Directors and established Director-level candidates.

The agency operates a hybrid model with two days per week in its Central London office, including Tuesdays.
