Director, Hydrodynamics
We're seeking a hydrodynamics specialist to join our Naval Architecture & Outfitting (NAO) Chapter within Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding (CCS). As the Director, Hydrodynamics, you will work alongside our global brands looking at operational performance, compliance management and the change roadmap for our existing fleet.

Role Overview
In this role, you will be a senior technical leader responsible for leading the corporate and cross brand Hydrodynamics Working Group. As such, you will be the primary technical point of contact for input and support for projects and initiatives related to vessel propulsive and hydrodynamic efficiency and associated environmental impacts and regulatory matters.
Key accountabilities include:
- Lead Hydronamics Working Group activities, including meetings, support requests, and knowledge management.
- Maintain technical expertise in hydrodynamic performance, hull coatings, biofouling management, maintenance technologies, and emerging energy-efficiency solutions.
- Promote best practices, standards, and shared learnings across brands to avoid duplication and improve fleet performance.
- Manage performance reporting e.g. propulsion performance, air lubrication systems (ALS) usage.
- Coordinate R&D initiatives and the implementation of hydro-related technologies across the fleet and newbuilding projects.
- Collaborate with brands and corporate stakeholders to maximize propulsive and hydrodynamic efficiency, reduce environmental impacts, ensure regulatory compliance, and leverage corporate scale for cost and operational benefits.

Participate in hydrodynamic-related IMO/CLIA matters (e.g. biofouling, underwater noise) on behalf of the corporation.

Closely collaborate with the newbuild team on hydrodynamic matters.
Position Requirements
Our ideal candidates are those who possess not only the technical skills required for shipbuilding but also a passion for the industry and a keen eye for detail. Your professional certifications will be the foundation of your role within our team.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant degree in naval architecture.
- Proven, relevant technical experience in the marine industry such as shipbuilding, classification societies or ship operators, technical suppliers, or engineering firm.
- Extensive experience in the maritime industry with strategic vision, commercial awareness, and exceptional leadership and influencing skills.
- Ability to represent the corporation in any hydrodynamics environment.
- Experience in the fundamentals of team dynamics.
- Experience in managing high value projects and budgets.
