The opportunity

EY Tax is a market leader, supporting clients through complex business and tax challenges while giving our people the opportunity to build rewarding, varied careers.

We have ambitious growth plans for our Financial Services International Tax and Transaction Services (FS ITTS) team and are looking for an experienced Senior Manager or Director to join us as a Tax Director.

This is an opportunity to deepen your expertise across Banking, Insurance and/or Wealth & Asset Management, while working with a diverse range of clients, from growing inbound businesses to large multinational organisations.

You’ll advise on complex, often multi-country projects and transactions, combining strong technical expertise with commercial insight. You’ll also play an important role in developing client relationships, originating new opportunities and coaching the next generation of talent within the team.

The types of projects you’ll contribute to may include:

  • Expansion into new markets
  • Pre-transaction reorganisations and post-transaction integrations
  • Organisational structure rationalisation
  • Business model redesign
  • Managing tax risk arising from international developments, including BEPS and ATAD
  • Engagement and negotiation with tax authorities in the UK and internationally
  • Buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence and structuring
  • Optimisation of capital and financing structures
  • Tax modelling

Your key responsibilities

As a Tax Director, you’ll combine technical expertise, commercial judgement and relationship management to deliver high-quality outcomes for our clients. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Building trusted client relationships, delivering exceptional service and becoming a valued adviser to senior stakeholders

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Significant experience as a tax practitioner, including strong reviewing skills and expertise in international tax
  • Experience working with Financial Services clients
  • A relevant professional qualification such as ATT, ACA, CA or CTA, or equivalent breadth of technical knowledge, for example through a legal qualification
