A Day in the Life

As the Director Manufacturing MBS Europe you manage and direct the 10 APS Masterbatch manufacturing sites across Europe: 6 for Custom Performance Colour Masterbatch Astorp (S), Crumlin (UK), Gorla (I), Oudsbergen (BE), Oyonnax (F) and Plock (PL) and 4 for White, Black, Additive and Breathable Masterbatches: Bornem (BE), Castellon (ES), Cerkeskoy (TR) and Givet (F), ensuring safe, environmentally responsible and cost-efficient operations in compliance with all applicable LyondellBasell policies and standards and local legal requirements.

You will be responsible for staffing and succession plans for the site and driving strategies and managing Capital Investments across the asset base. In addition you drive GoalZERO HSE performance, an important function is to champion APEX, VEP and GoalZero for Quality and to ensure Service Target Levels are achieved.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Establish and manage a culture and organization in which people, process and product safety, environmental stewardship, operational excellence and cost efficiency are the top priorities.
  • Direct the operational aspects of the sites through the site managers in compliance with corporate needs, local laws and regulation, applicable quality standards and responsible care for the safety and wellbeing of employees, contractors and community. Assist the site managers to build, manage and maintain constructive industrial relations.
  • Build a strong and efficient organization by planning and implementing necessary changes and by mentoring with an emphasis on staff development and career planning activities.
  • Assure the sites are appropriately staffed with well-trained personnel.
  • Develop, implement and promote continuous improvement initiatives congruent with the business priorities by using benchmark references.
  • Manage the development and the control of annual operations and capital budgets for the sites and region as a whole.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators and reporting capabilities for the sites with the individual site managers.
  • Build up a strong business acumen in the local teams by enriching the relationship with the Business partners (Asset Manager, Marketing Manager, Sales team, Technical Support team and Centralized Planning Team) maintaining regular talks with the Business incumbents and by mentoring with emphasis on staff the proper business acumen. Work with other functions on site to coordinate activities where needed.
  • Develop and maintain a solid and efficient reporting system to inform promptly the APS EU management team about sites’ performance.

You Bring This Value

  • Engineering or science degree, or equivalent professional experience
  • Min 20 years of relevant industry experience
  • Min 5 years as site manager preferred
  • Experience in international assignments and working in a multicultural environment
  • Experience in managing remote, international teams
  • In depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, preferably with plastic compounding experience
  • Excellent knowledge in business processes with sound business acumen and a good understanding of economics
  • Very good knowledge of English, verbal and written communication
  • Other European languages would be an advantage
