Technical Director – Networks, Technology and Innovation
Location: Egham, Surrey
Salary: £90,000 – £105,000 + Excellent Benefits
The Opportunity
A fast-growing Telco start-up developing next-generation connectivity across Private 5G, Open RAN, FWA and MNO environments is seeking a Technical Director to serve as senior technical authority and shape the company’s technology strategy, architecture and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end technical architecture and roadmap across Private 5G/SNPN, Open RAN, 5G Core, FWA and operator networks
- Act as design authority — reviewing and approving architectures, designs and technical decisions
- Lead technical delivery across Innovate UK and R&D programmes
- Define and develop repeatable Enterprise Private Network (EPN) deployment models
- Provide technical input into bids, proposals and commercial decisions
- Build, recruit and mentor the technology team
- Manage vendor, partner and subcontractor relationships
- Represent the business with customers, investors and industry bodies

What We’re Looking For
- 15+ years in telecoms or network technology; 5+ years in senior technical leadership
- Deep expertise in 4G/LTE, 5G, Open RAN, 5G Core and Private 5G/SNPN
- Strong knowledge of 3GPP standards
- Proven track record building and leading technical teams
- Strong commercial awareness and communication skills
- Degree in Engineering, Telecoms or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Must have the right to work in the UK — no sponsorship available
