Role Description
The Director, North of England will lead client engagements focused on economic development, investment promotion, trade expansion, and innovation across the North of England region. This full-time, on-site role, based in London, includes:
- Overseeing project delivery
- Managing key stakeholder relationships with public and private sector partners
- Providing strategic advice on regional growth initiatives

The director will:

- Develop and implement market-entry and investment strategies
- Guide policy and program design
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver measurable outcomes
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Business development
- Proposal leadership
- Financial and performance management of projects
- Thought leadership through reports, presentations, and industry events
The role also involves:
- Mentoring team members
- Collaborating with colleagues across OCO’s global offices
- Ensuring high-quality client service aligned with OCO Global’s standards
Qualifications
- Strong background in economic development, with experience in trade, investment promotion, regional growth, or public policy advisory.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, including supervising project teams, coaching colleagues, and managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Advanced client relationship and stakeholder engagement abilities, ideally working with government agencies, economic development organizations, and private sector partners.
- Strategic planning and analytical skills, including developing evidence-based strategies, interpreting economic and market data, and producing high-quality reports and presentations.
- Business development experience, such as leading proposals, securing new engagements, and building long-term partnerships in consulting or related fields.
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly in written reports, presentations, and meetings.
- Knowledge of the economic landscape and key sectors in the North of England, with familiarity with regional priorities and opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business, public policy, international relations, or a related field; a relevant postgraduate degree is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site in London, travel within the North of England and occasionally internationally, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
