Lead Improvement. Drive Transformation. Change Lives.

Redbridge is an ambitious and exciting East London borough. We are one of the fastest-growing parts of the country and the third most diverse London borough. Our communities are attracted by a mixture of excellent schools, relatively affordable housing, high-quality open spaces and rapid transport connections into the heart of the city.

We are a borough of opportunity, ambitious for our people and our places. We are also delivering significant organisational change, modernisation and service improvement as we build a stronger future for Redbridge and the residents we serve.

We are looking for an outstanding Director of Adult Social Care to lead one of the most important improvement and transformation programmes in local government. Reporting to the Executive Director of Adult Social Care and Health, you will lead a large and complex service of c300 staff, providing strategic and operational leadership across adult social care services. You will be responsible for driving service improvement, strengthening social work practice, delivering financial sustainability and ensuring that residents receive safe, high-quality support that promotes independence, wellbeing and dignity.

This is a pivotal leadership role at a defining moment for Adult Social Care in Redbridge. Significant progress has already been made in stabilising services and building a stronger leadership team, but there remains substantial work ahead. You will play a central role in delivering our improvement and transformation programme, embedding consistent high-quality practice, strengthening safeguarding arrangements, improving performance and helping to shape a sustainable model of care for the future.

Success in this role will require visible and resilient leadership. You will inspire and support a workforce that is committed to improving outcomes for residents, while creating a culture of accountability, learning and continuous improvement. Alongside service excellence, you will bring a strong focus on performance, demand management and financial stewardship, ensuring resources are used effectively to meet rising levels of need.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Working closely with elected members, health partners, providers, voluntary sector organisations and regional stakeholders, you will help strengthen partnership working across the wider health and care system and contribute fully to the Council's corporate leadership agenda.

About You

We are seeking an experienced senior leader and social work practitioner. You will bring a strong track record of leading Adult Social Care services within a complex organisation, improving quality and practice standards, managing significant budgets and leading through change. Your ability to combine operational grip with strategic vision, alongside excellent political awareness and relationship-building skills, will be critical.

We are looking for a leader who is motivated by public service and who wants to make a lasting difference. We are looking for someone with the determination, resilience and ambition to help lead Redbridge through the next phase of its improvement journey and deliver better outcomes for some of our most vulnerable residents.

Few Director opportunities offer this combination of scale, pace, challenge and opportunity. For the right leader, this is a chance to leave a lasting legacy across Adult Social Care, the wider Council and the communities of Redbridge. In turn, you will be part of a positive, caring and dynamic leadership team and will be supported to deliver the very best for Redbridge.
