We are looking for an exceptional Director of Adult Social Care

We are looking for an exceptional Director of Adult Social Care to take on this system leadership role, and welcome applications from both experienced and aspirant candidates.

As the Director of Adult Social Care, you will:

  • Play a pivotal role in shaping the future of adult social care across B&NES.
  • Lead a complex, high-impact portfolio covering statutory adult care services, safeguarding, transformation programmes and health system integration, all with a clear focus on improving independence, wellbeing, and resilience for our residents.
  • Work with the Director of Public Health and Director of Children’s Services within the People service, to lead across the whole system, influence the long-term direction of the council and the wider partnership and help improve outcomes for communities across the district.
  • Shape policy and strategic thinking at both organisational and regional levels, ensuring B&NES remains at the forefront of innovation, prevention and wellbeing.
  • Be a member of the council’s Corporate Management Team, and have a direct role in shaping the council’s overall strategic direction and collective leadership.
  • Work across the organisation and with partners in the NHS and in the voluntary and community sector demonstrating bold leadership, compassionate values and a drive to deliver change at scale.

You will be an experienced and accomplished senior leader who:

  • Can step confidently into a significant and complex local authority role.
  • Brings the credibility, judgement and presence of a corporate and systems leader: someone who can work effectively with elected members; someone who can work across organisational boundaries, navigate complexity, influence a wide range of partners, and remain focused on the outcomes that matter most to residents.
