ABOUT THE ROLE
Step into a key executive leadership role and shape the future of Allied Health services across Calvary Mater Newcastle. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Allied Health is responsible for the overall leadership, management and strategic direction of Allied Health services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality and patient-centred care.
Our Allied Health teams provide essential clinical services across a range of specialties, including Physiotherapy, Social Work, Nutrition & Dietetics, Speech Pathology, Pharmacy, and Occupational Therapy. Working in partnership with the Director of Medical Services and the Director of Nursing and Clinical Services, you will provide organisation-wide clinical leadership, governance and service development.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced healthcare leader to drive innovation, workforce development, quality improvement and operational excellence across a large multidisciplinary workforce while contributing to the strategic direction of Calvary Mater Newcastle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee Allied Health services to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care.
- Provide strategic advice and leadership to the Executive team on Allied Health clinical, operational and workforce matters.
- Drive service planning, innovation and workforce sustainability initiatives across Allied Health disciplines.
- Lead governance, quality improvement, patient safety and consumer partnership initiatives to strengthen service delivery and outcomes.
- Manage complex workforce, financial and operational priorities while ensuring effective stewardship of resources.
- Foster a high-performing culture through leadership, mentoring, professional development and succession planning.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to advance Allied Health practice and service outcomes.
- Champion research, education and evidence-based practice to support excellence in Allied Health care.

WHAT YOU BRING
- Tertiary qualifications in an Allied Health discipline and current professional registration, or eligibility for practising membership of the relevant professional body where registration is not applicable.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Health Services Management, equivalent experience, or a willingness to undertake further management studies.
- Extensive senior leadership experience within a complex healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, operational management and service development.
- Proven experience managing complex workforce, industrial and human resource matters.
- Strong financial and budget management experience with a track record of delivering services within available resources.
- Demonstrated expertise in clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement and healthcare service planning.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships across multidisciplinary teams.
- A commitment to person-centred care, continuous improvement and the advancement of Allied Health services.
- A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission-based organisation.
The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement. Leave types may include but are not limited to Long Service Leave, Annual Leave and Sick Leave. Applicants are encouraged to discuss this with the Convenor for further information.
