We’re looking for an exceptional strategic leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Director of Assets and Health and Safety.
You will provide strategic leadership for asset strategy, building safety, compliance, organisational health and safety, sustainability and assurance within a complex and highly regulated environment, helping us protect our customers, invest in our homes and deliver our ambitions for the future.
This is a rare opportunity to shape how a progressive Welsh housing association manages its homes, mitigates risk and delivers long-term value for customers and communities.
Reporting to: Executive Director of Property
Salary: £80,000 – £96,000, dependant on experience

About the role
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team the Director of Assets and Health and Safety will provide strategic leadership for the stewardship, safety, sustainability and long-term performance of United Welsh’s homes and workplaces.

The postholder will lead the development and delivery of the Group’s Asset Management Strategy, ensuring investment decisions maximise value, customer outcomes, regulatory compliance, safety and environmental sustainability. They will be the lead for building safety, landlord compliance, corporate health and safety, asset intelligence, assurance and risk management.
A central part of the role will be helping to shape the future direction of our repairs and maintenance service, providing leadership through a significant period of change and ensuring strategic ambitions are translated into high-quality, customer-focused services.

The role is responsible for ensuring that United Welsh maintains a robust framework of policies, procedures and assurance mechanisms that provide confidence to customers, colleagues, the Executive Team and Board that statutory, regulatory and governance obligations are being met.
The Director will champion a culture where safety comes first, risk is actively managed, and sustainability considerations are embedded throughout the asset lifecycle. Investment decisions will be driven by high-quality data, customer insight and whole-life asset performance, enabling United Welsh to direct resources where they deliver the greatest value and impact.
