Acre is proudly working with The Copper Mark in their search for a Vice President, Assurance. The Copper Mark is the leading assurance framework for responsible production and sourcing across the copper, nickel, zinc, and molybdenum value chains.

As demand for critical minerals continues to accelerate through the global energy transition, The Copper Mark plays a vital role in helping companies demonstrate independently verified responsible practices and contribute positively to sustainable development. Today, The Copper Mark works with over 160 participants across 51 companies globally and manages a network of 190 approved assessors from 65 assessment firms. With ambitious plans to significantly scale its impact over the next five years, the organisation is entering an exciting period of growth, transformation, and innovation.

Location: Europe-based candidate, with preference for London-based candidates

About the Role

The Copper Mark is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Assurance to join its leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will take ownership of the organisation's Assurance Framework, ensuring its integrity, effectiveness, and continued evolution as the organisation scales globally.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing assurance operations, driving continuous improvement, leading a globally distributed team, and managing the transition to new responsible production and sourcing standards. The VP Assurance will play a critical role in shaping the future of responsible mining and metals assurance worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery, management, and continuous improvement of The Copper Mark Assurance Framework, ensuring the highest standards of quality, integrity, and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee the transition and integration of new responsible production and sourcing standards, supporting both existing participants and future growth initiatives.
  • Manage, develop, and inspire a high-performing global assurance team, ensuring clear objectives, accountability, and professional development.
  • Monitor and report on assurance performance, compliance matters, and key metrics to senior leadership, the Board, and relevant committees.
  • Represent The Copper Mark at industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements, helping advance the organisation's strategic objectives and global reputation.

About You

  • Significant experience in assurance management, including hands-on delivery of ISAE 3000 engagements and/or experience within a certification body.
  • Proven experience leading, developing, and scaling geographically dispersed teams within an international environment.
  • Strong expertise in process management, quality assurance, and continuous improvement, with a demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence.
  • Experience managing assessor networks, third-party vendors, and external service providers.
  • A commercially minded and execution-focused leader with outstanding communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving capabilities.
