Director of Nursing – Behavioral Health / Psychiatric Services
Location: Worcester, MA

Lead Exceptional Psychiatric Nursing Care
We are seeking an experienced Nursing Director – Behavioral Health to provide clinical and operational leadership across psychiatric nursing services. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven nursing leader who is passionate about behavioral health, patient safety, staff development, and delivering high-quality care.
Working closely with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and senior leadership, the Director will help assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing practice across assigned units. This role has 24/7 accountability for designated areas and plays a key role in ensuring excellent patient outcomes, clinical staff competency, and effective resource management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for assigned psychiatric nursing units/services.
- Partner with the CNO and hospital leadership to establish and achieve nursing, quality, safety, and operational goals.
- Maintain 24/7 accountability for assigned areas and ensure safe, appropriate, and evidence-based patient care.
- Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing practice across multiple units.
- Promote staff competency, professional development, accountability, and engagement.
- Serve as a role model, advocate, and resource for the nursing profession.
- Support effective staffing, resource utilization, and operational performance.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, quality improvement, teamwork, and compassionate behavioral healthcare.
- Build strong relationships with physicians, nursing staff, clinical leaders, patients, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable professional standards, regulations, policies, and organizational requirements.

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Psychiatric/Behavioral Health nursing leadership experience.
- Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Associate degree from an accredited nursing program plus a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or BSN.
- MSN or master’s degree in a healthcare-related field preferred/required as applicable.
- Demonstrated hospital operational and nursing leadership experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage resources, and drive clinical excellence.
- Current CPR certification.
- Must maintain all licenses, certifications, and registrations required by applicable law, regulation, or organizational policy.
