Director of Biodiversity Net Gain
UK Wide | Hybrid Working | Up to £80,000 + Bonus + Long-Term Incentive
Ready to build a business, not just do a job?
We're looking for an ambitious and commercially-minded leader to establish and grow a new Biodiversity Net Gain operation, transforming a substantial UK land portfolio into a successful network of habitat banks.
This is a rare opportunity to join at the beginning of the journey and take ownership of a business with significant growth potential. Backed by an established landholding and in-house ecological expertise, you'll have the autonomy to shape strategy, build relationships, create processes and drive revenue in one of the UK's fastest-growing environmental markets.
If you're excited by the challenge of building something from the ground up and want to play a key role in the future of natural capital and biodiversity, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
Reporting directly to senior stakeholders, you'll be responsible for creating and delivering the commercial strategy for the Biodiversity Net Gain business. You'll identify opportunities across the land portfolio, build strong relationships with developers and advisers, oversee habitat bank development and lead the commercialisation of biodiversity units.
This is a broad role combining business development, strategy, operations and stakeholder management, with the opportunity to recruit and develop your own team as the business grows.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
