Eaton Syalon are delighted to be exclusively supporting a highly respected and ambitious professional services organisation in the appointment of a Business Development Director.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Business Development professional to take ownership of the growth strategy for a key regional office, working closely with senior leadership to drive new business, strengthen market presence and build long-term client relationships across the West Midlands.
This is not a traditional sales role. Our client is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships, developing trusted networks and becoming a visible ambassador for the business.
The Role
As Business Development Director, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the commercial growth strategy for the Birmingham office.
Working alongside Partners and Directors, you'll identify opportunities, build strategic relationships and help generate sustainable business growth across a range of professional service offerings. Supported by an established marketing team, you'll have the autonomy to develop your own approach while ensuring a consistent pipeline of opportunities and maintaining a strong presence within the local business community.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
