About Vested Talent
Vested Talent is building a different approach to recruitment.
Alongside our existing permanent recruitment and executive search services, we are developing Vested Complete, a fully managed recruitment solution designed to give businesses access to a dedicated recruitment function for one predictable monthly fee.
Our aim is simple: to challenge the traditional recruitment model and give clients a more transparent, commercially effective way to manage their permanent hiring requirements.
As we build this proposition, we are looking for an experienced Business Development Director to lead new client acquisition and help shape our future growth.
The role
This is not a traditional recruitment consultant position.
The primary focus of the role is new business development.
You will identify prospective clients, build relationships with senior decision-makers and develop opportunities for Vested Complete and our wider recruitment services.
You will be expected to understand how prospective clients currently manage recruitment, where their challenges sit and how Vested can provide a more effective solution.
You will engage with Managing Directors, CEOs, HR Directors, Finance Directors and other senior stakeholders.
Once a new client is secured, the relationship will transition into a dedicated Account Manager and recruitment delivery team, allowing you to remain focused on winning and developing new business.
You will remain commercially connected to key clients and support the transition process, but you will not be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of recruitment assignments.
Key responsibilities
- You will be responsible for developing and managing a strong pipeline of prospective clients.
- You will identify organisations where Vested's recruitment model could deliver clear commercial and operational value.
- You will create new opportunities through direct outreach, networking, referrals, events and other appropriate business development activity.
- You will build relationships with senior decision-makers and understand their current recruitment model, hiring volumes, internal capability, external agency usage and future requirements.
- You will present the Vested proposition clearly and credibly to prospective clients.
- You will work with prospective customers to build a compelling commercial case for change.
- You will prepare and present proposals, negotiate terms and convert qualified opportunities into long-term client relationships.
- You will work closely with the Vested leadership team on strategic opportunities, pricing and commercial proposals.
- You will ensure new clients are transitioned effectively into the Account Management and recruitment delivery teams.
- You will maintain accurate pipeline, activity and forecast information.
- You will provide regular feedback on market conditions, customer requirements and competitor activity to help us continually develop the Vested proposition.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Who we are looking for
We are open to candidates from both inside and outside the recruitment industry.
Experience within recruitment can be valuable, but it is not essential.
We are particularly interested in people who have sold outsourced services, SaaS, HR technology, payroll, managed services, professional services or other recurring-revenue B2B solutions.
The most important requirement is the ability to sell a business solution rather than simply a product.
You should be comfortable engaging with senior leaders and capable of having commercially credible conversations around cost, organisational structure, outsourcing, service delivery and return on investment.
You will need to be comfortable developing opportunities from a cold starting point and building relationships over time.
This role will suit someone who is commercially ambitious, resilient and proactive, but who understands that long-term relationships are built on credibility and trust.
Experience
We would expect candidates to demonstrate a successful background in B2B business development.
You should have experience of winning new clients and developing meaningful commercial relationships.
Experience selling services or solutions with significant annual contract values would be advantageous.
You should be confident engaging with senior decision-makers and presenting proposals at board or leadership level.
You will need strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
You should be comfortable managing a structured sales pipeline and working against clear commercial targets.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Experience within recruitment, HR services or talent acquisition would be helpful but is not essential.
Personal qualities
We are looking for someone who can represent Vested professionally and credibly.
The right person will be commercially driven without being overly transactional.
You will be confident enough to challenge prospective customers and thoughtful enough to listen before proposing a solution.
You will be comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy while working closely with the wider Vested team.
You should be motivated by building something as well as selling it.
Vested Complete is a developing proposition, so we want someone who can contribute ideas, challenge our thinking and help shape how we take the service to market.
Remuneration and benefits
- The starting basic salary is £50,000 per annum.
- Commission is paid at 5% on new business.
- On-target earnings are £87,500, but open-ended.
- The package also includes a company car or car allowance.
- The pension scheme provides a 3% employer contribution alongside a 5% employee contribution.
- The role offers flexible and hybrid working.
Performance expectations
The primary measure of success will be the value of new contracted business secured.
Performance will also be assessed against the quality of the sales pipeline, conversion rates, new client meetings, client quality, successful implementation and long-term account retention.
The role is not about winning business at any cost.
We want to build a strong portfolio of clients that value the Vested model, can be successfully supported by our recruitment team and have the potential to develop into long-term relationships.
Why join Vested Talent?
This is an opportunity to join Vested at an important stage of its development.
You will have the chance to help build and commercialise a new recruitment model rather than simply inherit an established sales territory.
You will work directly with the leadership team, have genuine influence over the development of the proposition and play a significant role in the future growth of the business.
For the right person, this is an opportunity to do more than sell recruitment.
It is an opportunity to help change the way businesses buy it.
We ask that all applications are supported by a covering letter outlining why you feel this role aligns with your skills and future ambitions.
