Business Development Director – Deal Origination, UK

📍 Birmingham | Hybrid

We are working with a highly successful and rapidly growing international software group with an active acquisition strategy across the UK.

As part of its continued growth, the business is looking to appoint an experienced Business Development Director to take a leading role in developing and delivering its acquisition origination strategy.

Working closely with the Head of M&A, this is a senior and highly influential position combining strategy, team leadership, relationship development and hands-on origination.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and executing the UK business development and origination strategy
  • Taking ownership of the quality and long-term strength of the acquisition pipeline
  • Leading, managing and developing the Business Development team
  • Building trusted, long-term relationships with founders, shareholders, management teams and professional advisers
  • Identifying, qualifying and progressing acquisition opportunities from initial engagement
  • Understanding shareholder objectives, motivations, valuation expectations and transaction timing
  • Working closely with the M&A team on opportunity prioritisation, valuation, deal structure and negotiations
  • Representing the business at a senior level across the market and developing a strong network of relationships

We are looking for a commercially astute, credible and emotionally intelligent leader with significant experience in Business Development, M&A Origination, Corporate Finance, Corporate Development, Investment, Advisory or a related environment.
