Director of Care Quality & Governance - covering East Anglia, Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire and Doncaster

About The Role

The Director of Care Quality & Governance provides strategic leadership and executive oversight for the organisation’s quality, governance and assurance framework, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care across all services. Working collaboratively with Operational Directors, Registered Managers, Clinical Leads and Corporate Services, the Director provides strategic direction across quality assurance, safeguarding, risk management, complaints, incidents, regulatory compliance, clinical governance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the organisation’s Quality & Governance Strategy aligned with organisational objectives, regulatory requirements and best practice.
  • Provide strategic advice, challenge and assurance to the Executive Team and Board regarding quality, governance, compliance and organisational risk.
  • Establish effective governance frameworks that support the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care across all services.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an organisation-wide Quality Assurance Framework.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, accountability and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
  • Ensure effective systems are in place to monitor care quality, resident outcomes, compliance and service performance.
  • Provide oversight of audits, quality reviews, improvement plans and assurance activity to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure learning from incidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns, regulatory activity and resident feedback drives measurable improvement.
  • Provide strategic oversight of care quality and clinical governance arrangements across the organisation.
  • Ensure safeguarding systems are effective, consistent and compliant with statutory requirements, including oversight of Section 42 safeguarding enquiries under the Care Act 2014.
  • Act as executive lead for CQC inspection readiness, regulatory engagement and organisational responses.
  • Work collaboratively with operational and clinical leaders to improve outcomes, reduce avoidable harm and promote evidence-based practice.
  • Provide oversight of complex safeguarding concerns.

About You

We are looking for an experienced and credible senior leader with a strong background in adult social care, healthcare, or another regulated care environment.

You will have substantial experience leading quality assurance, governance, safeguarding, risk management, and regulatory compliance across multiple services, with a proven ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver positive outcomes. Comfortable operating at a strategic level, you will have experience providing assurance, insight, and expert guidance to Executive Teams and Boards while influencing senior stakeholders and leading organisational change.

Ideally, you will hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (or an equivalent leadership qualification), alongside relevant qualifications in quality improvement, safeguarding, risk management, governance, or audit. Professional registration with a recognised regulatory body, such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Social Work England (SWE), or the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), would be advantageous. Above all, you will be a collaborative, values-driven leader with excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills, committed to delivering outstanding quality, safety, and governance across all services.

This position will require travel around homes across the company, so a driving license and access to a car is essential.
