Lead Elexon’s transformation agenda as Director of Change & Transformation, shaping major programmes, driving strategic change and delivering lasting impact across the energy industry.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Change & Transformation to join our Operations Directorate. This is a strategic leadership role with enterprise-wide responsibility for the delivery of Elexon’s major programmes, strategic initiatives and transformation agenda, ensuring change is delivered effectively, efficiently and with measurable value.
You’ll lead Programmes & Change, setting the direction for programme delivery and business change across Elexon. Working closely with the Executive Team, Board, senior leaders, regulators, industry bodies and delivery partners, you’ll provide the governance, leadership and oversight needed to deliver complex operational, regulatory, digital and organisational change while building Elexon’s capability for the future.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and lead Elexon’s overarching strategy for programme delivery and business change.
- Shape and maintain an enterprise-wide change portfolio aligned with organisational priorities and future market needs.
- Champion a customer and digital-first approach, ensuring these principles are embedded across programme and change delivery.
- Provide oversight of major programmes and transformation initiatives, ensuring delivery against agreed scope, budgets and timelines.
- Influence Executive and Board decision-making through clear reporting, risk insight and strategic programme recommendations.
- Lead the development and implementation of programme management frameworks, methodologies and assurance processes, creating a consistent and repeatable approach to delivery.
- Ensure strong risk, issue and dependency management across the portfolio, identifying potential impacts early and taking action to keep delivery on track.
- Sponsor key programmes and act as a senior escalation point for strategic, commercial and delivery challenges.
- Oversee regulatory-driven change, translating requirements into robust programme plans with clear impacts, options and implementation pathways.
- Build effective relationships with regulators, industry bodies, market participants and internal stakeholders to understand future change and support successful delivery.
- Ensure governance structures, steering groups and decision forums operate effectively, providing constructive challenge and clear leadership.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of programme managers, project managers, business analysts and change specialists.
- Build organisational capability across programme delivery, change management, transformation and operational excellence.
- Ensure the organisation is ready to receive and embed change successfully, with appropriate business planning, resources and budgets in place.
- Own the Programmes & Change budget and lead commercial planning and procurement for programme-related services and suppliers.
- Lead and embed strong change practices and operational excellence across the Operations Directorate and wider organisation.

What you’ll bring:
- A proven track record of delivering major programmes and large-scale organisational transformation.
- Significant strategic leadership experience within complex, regulated or stakeholder-driven environments.
- Strong programme and portfolio management expertise, with experience establishing effective delivery frameworks and governance.
- The ability to influence confidently at senior, Executive and regulatory levels.
- A strong customer mindset, with evidence of delivering change that improves outcomes.
- Strong financial acumen and commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to lead through ambiguity, creating clarity and direction within complex change environments.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and large supplier ecosystems.
- Strong planning, organisational and risk management capability.
- Experience embedding operational excellence and effective change management practices.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience within the energy, utilities or regulated infrastructure sectors would be an advantage.
- An understanding of the UK energy market and regulatory landscape, or experience delivering cross-industry and multi-party change, would also be beneficial.
