About the Role

Spire Claremont Hospital, located in Sheffield, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Clinical Services to provide overall leadership and management for all clinical service areas within the Hospital.

In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Drive ongoing development and expansion of clinical services
  • Oversee a team of Senior Department Heads across the hospital

Key Responsibilities

As Director of Clinical Services, your core duties include (working primarily 9 am–5 pm, Monday–Friday, with flexibility for on-call duties):

  • Ensuring clinical governance, patient safety, and satisfaction remain top priorities
  • Collaborating with the Governance Manager and Heads of Department to maintain full compliance with CQC regulations
  • Implementing and enforcing ** effective infection prevention controls** across all hospital departments
  • Leading quality improvement strategies for clinical teams
  • Developing and executing the hospital’s clinical strategy, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives
  • Delivering a patient-focused, cost-efficient service to support Spire Healthcare’s vision
  • Balancing quality healthcare delivery with financial accountability
  • Driving commercial growth through innovative opportunities in clinical services

Who We’re Looking For

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse or equivalent healthcare professional with a valid NMC/HPC registration (no restrictions)
  • A minimum of 3 years managing a senior clinical team (preferably in the NHS or private hospital setting)
  • In-depth clinical knowledge (prior surgical ward experience advantageous)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply leadership skills to clinical practice daily
  • Clinically competent to undertake duties upon request
  • Strong grasp of clinical governance (essential)
  • An innovative, dynamic, and customer-service-driven mindset
  • Preferred: Completed mentorship/teaching qualification (not mandatory)
  • Preferred: Management qualification (not mandatory)
