Director of Compliance for the UK Business
An excellent opportunity to join a leading insurance business as Director of Compliance for the UK business, covering Lloyd's and Company markets.
This is a hybrid role, with 3 days each week spent in the office.
You will be responsible for maintaining an effective second-line Compliance framework that supports compliance with PRA, FCA and Lloyd's requirements, while enabling the business to achieve its strategic objectives through risk-based regulatory advice and oversight.
You will serve as both the approved SMF16 and SMF17 with responsibilities including regulatory risk management, compliance monitoring, regulatory engagement, governance, financial crime oversight, conduct and complaints oversight, and regulatory change management.
The role requires an individual capable of operating credibly with UK Boards, Executive Committees, regulators and senior stakeholders, while leading an effective local Compliance team, coordinating with the Group function and maintaining close oversight of key regulatory risks and obligations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
