Director of Data & AI

Lead Enterprise-Wide Data & AI Transformation

Harvey Nash Executive Search is delighted to be partnering with a major multi-site UK organisation to appoint their new Director of Data & AI. This is a Senior Leadership role, reporting to C-level with responsibility for both the definition and delivery of their new enterprise-wide data and AI strategy. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a large, complex organisation as it accelerates its journey towards becoming a truly data and AI-led business and delivering measurable commercial value and operational impact.

This is a highly visible leadership position with significant executive exposure, so we are looking for individuals at Director level, running sizeable teams and genuinely creating enterprise level strategy.

The successful candidate will:

  • Define and execute an enterprise Data & AI strategy aligned to business objectives
  • Build and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary function spanning data platforms, governance, analytics and AI
  • Identify and deliver high-value AI and GenAI use cases that drive revenue growth, customer engagement, productivity and efficiency
  • Establish a benefits-led approach to investment, ensuring clear ROI and measurable outcomes
  • Partner with executive stakeholders to embed data-driven decision making across the organisation
  • Develop the operating model, governance frameworks and capabilities required to scale Data & AI effectively

Essential Skills:

We are interested in speaking with senior data leaders who fulfil all the below essential requirements:

  • Significant senior leadership experience (into C-Level) across Data, Analytics and AI
  • Specific experience within a large scale, fast paced private sector environment
  • Experience of leading specialist Data & AI teams with full line management of circa 40 employees
  • Experience building, developing and inspiring high-performing teams
  • A proven track record in the creation/ definition of enterprise-wide Data & AI strategies with measurable business outcomes
  • Previous experience in then taking the strategy through to execution across the business, managing substantial investment portfolios and benefits realisation
  • Deep understanding of modern cloud data platforms and AI technologies
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and executive influencing capabilities
