Director of Data & AI – Insurance Transformation
Salary: £150,000–£190,000 per annum
Location: London – hybrid working
Employment type: Permanent
We’re partnering with a rapidly growing organisation in the general insurance sector to appoint a Director of Data & AI.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity within a business undergoing significant operational and technology-led transformation.
You will define and deliver the organisation’s Data & AI strategy, using data, artificial intelligence and automation to improve efficiency, strengthen decision-making and enable scalable growth.
Working closely with senior leaders across the business, you will identify where Data & AI can deliver measurable value—from streamlining workflows and reducing manual processes to enhancing customer outcomes and building stronger analytical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Define and deliver the organisation’s Data & AI strategy.
- Lead AI-enabled transformation and operational improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve workflows and increase efficiency.
- Embed data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
- Develop scalable capabilities across AI, analytics, automation and reporting.
- Strengthen data governance, quality and management practices.
- Partner with business, operational and technology leaders to ensure initiatives support strategic priorities.
- Build compelling business cases and translate emerging technologies into practical business solutions.
- Drive adoption of AI and data-led ways of working across the organisation.
- Establish appropriate controls for the responsible use of data and AI.
- Lead and develop the organisation’s Data & AI capability.

Experience Required
- Senior leadership experience across Data, Analytics, AI or a closely related function.
- Experience within general insurance, insurance broking or another regulated financial-services environment.
- A strong track record of defining and delivering enterprise-level data strategies.
- Demonstrable experience using AI, automation and analytics to deliver operational improvements and measurable business value.
- Experience leading complex business or digital transformation programmes.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, reporting and insight capabilities.
- The ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across business and technology functions.
- A commercially focused approach, with the ability to connect Data & AI investment to tangible
