Director of Data & Business Intelligence
Membership organisation | London, hybrid | c£110,000
We are working with a large, purpose-led membership organisation that is looking to appoint an experienced Director of Data & Business Intelligence to provide strategic leadership across its data, business intelligence and analytics capability.
This is a senior transformation role with responsibility for developing a more mature and consistent approach to data across the organisation. You will take ownership of an established technical environment, lead the direction of the data function, strengthen governance and quality, and ensure that reporting and insight provide senior leaders and operational teams with the information they need to make effective decisions.
The Opportunity
You will work closely with executive and senior stakeholders to define priorities across data, reporting and analytics, ensuring that technology, governance and operating processes support the organisation’s longer-term objectives.

Your remit will span data strategy, governance, quality, cloud platforms, reporting and analytics, with responsibility for ensuring the organisation has a secure, scalable and well-managed data environment. You will also lead the Data & BI function, oversee key technology partners and provide senior-level advice on investment, transformation and future capability.
A key part of the role will be improving the quality, consistency and accessibility of information across the organisation, while strengthening how data ownership, stewardship, security and compliance are managed.
Experience and Background
We are looking for an established data leader who has previously taken responsibility for a broad enterprise data function encompassing strategy, governance, engineering, reporting and analytics.
You will bring:
- Strong experience leading complex data and BI transformation within a large membership organisation, public sector or similarly complex organisation.
- Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft data ecosystem, including Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, SQL and Power BI.
- A strong understanding of data governance, privacy, security and regulatory requirements, alongside experience developing executive-level reporting and insight.
- Proven leadership capability, including managing multidisciplinary technical teams, external partners and senior stakeholder relationships.

You will be comfortable operating at both strategic and delivery level, with the credibility to influence executive audiences and the ability to translate complex technical challenges into clear organisational priorities.
This role will suit an experienced Director, Head of Data or senior data leader who can quickly establish credibility, provide clear direction and help shape the longer-term development of a modern data and analytics capability.
