We’re partnering with a leading international professional services firm to appoint a Director of Data to lead and evolve its data function at an exciting point in its wider technology and transformation journey.
About the Role
Managing a team of around 25–30 data professionals, this is a senior, business-facing leadership role with responsibility for reviewing the organisation’s existing data strategy, identifying where changes or improvements are required, and setting the direction for the next phase of its data maturity.
- This is not a hands-on technical position.
- We’re looking for someone who has come from a strong technical data background and understands the underlying concepts, architecture, platforms and challenges, but who has progressed into a strategic leadership role.
- A key part of the position will be taking complex technical concepts and translating them into clear, commercially relevant messages for senior stakeholders across the wider business.

Responsibilities
- Reporting to the CTO, you’ll work closely with the Technology leadership team, Executive leadership and senior stakeholders across the organisation to assess the effectiveness of the current data strategy and operating model.
- You’ll identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations around people, processes, governance, technology and investment, ensuring the data function is aligned with both the organisation’s wider technology strategy and broader business objectives.
With an established team already in place, this is an opportunity to review, challenge and shape what exists rather than simply maintain the status quo. You’ll have the autonomy to identify where changes are needed, introduce improvements and establish a clear roadmap for the future, while continuing to develop and lead a high-performing data function.
- You’ll also play an important role in supporting the organisation’s wider Data and AI agenda, helping the business understand how its data can be used more effectively across areas such as analytics, AI, automation, knowledge management and client-facing products.

Requirements
We’re looking for an experienced Data Director, Head of Data or senior data leader who combines a strong technical foundation with exceptional stakeholder management and commercial awareness. You’ll be comfortable operating at senior and Executive level, challenging existing thinking where appropriate and communicating complex data and technology concepts in a way that resonates with a non-technical audience.
