About the Role

A Series B startup, founded by an Oxford Professor and a hedge fund manager, where you get a genuine leadership seat and the freedom to work from anywhere.

This is a company built by people who understand data at the highest level. The founders bring serious academic and financial pedigree, and they have just closed their Series B. That means the validation is there, the runway is real, and now they need someone to lead the research function and shape what comes next.

Responsibilities

  • You will own the data research agenda.
  • You will define hypotheses, design and run complex open-ended research projects from start to finish, and make the calls that determine which data is worth buying and which is not.
  • You are not inheriting a fixed playbook. You are building one.
  • You will lead and grow a technical team, setting the standard for how the work gets done and how findings get communicated across the business.
  • You will be presenting complex quantitative insights to stakeholders who are not always technical, so being able to translate is as important as being able to analyse.
  • Day to day you will be hands-on with statistical analysis, data modelling, and the kind of messy real-world data that does not come in clean or labelled.
  • Python and SQL are core to how you work.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
