Director of Product Engineering
London
4 days a week in office
This is an opportunity to lead the evolution of a market-leading customer intelligence and AI platforms. You will take ownership of a multidisciplinary Product Engineering function, bringing together Data Science, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering and Software Development to build scalable products that help organisations unlock value from customer data.
The Role
- Leading Data Science, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering and Application Development teams within a single Product Engineering function
- Defining technical strategy, architecture and engineering standards across customer data and AI products
- Building scalable platforms that support customer segmentation, propensity modelling, churn prediction, customer lifetime value analysis and decisioning capabilities
- Driving the productionisation of machine learning and AI models from experimentation through to enterprise deployment
- Ensuring Data Scientists and Engineers work collaboratively from solution design through to production delivery
- Establishing best practice across cloud architecture, data platforms, engineering governance, CI/CD and operational excellence
- Working closely with senior stakeholders to align technology investment with customer growth and commercial objectives

You will bring strong technical leadership experience across modern data, analytics and software environments.
Key requirements include:
- Strong commercial experience leading both Data Science and Engineering teams
- Experience delivering customer analytics, customer intelligence or customer data platforms
- Deep understanding of customer segmentation, propensity modelling, churn analytics, behavioural modelling and predictive analytics
- Experience building and scaling SaaS products, data products or AI-driven platforms
- Strong knowledge of modern cloud and data architectures, ideally within Azure environments
- Experience taking machine learning models into production with appropriate governance, monitoring and operational controls
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams spanning Data Science, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering and Software Development
- Strong architectural and solution design experience within enterprise-scale environments
- Experience establishing engineering standards, quality frameworks and technical governance processes
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Passion for developing talent, coaching leaders and building high-performing engineering organisations
