Hybrid | London
We're working with an established enterprise midway through a major data transformation to find a Director of Data & AI who will own the strategy, architecture and governance of the entire data estate. This is a Director of Data & AI role for a senior leader who can set the destination and the guardrails, then trust strong leads to deliver within them. You'll be the senior voice of data and AI to the executive, turning business ambition into a clear roadmap, and turning technical reality back into trade-offs the business can act on.
Responsibilities as a Director of Data & AI:
- Define and own the multi-year data and AI strategy, roadmap and business case, aligned to enterprise priorities
- Set the directional architecture for the data estate and hold it to modern engineering and cost-control standards
- Own enterprise data governance end to end: cataloguing, lineage, quality, access control and the privacy and regulatory posture
- Establish a semantic layer and certified datasets as the single source of truth, driving definitional consistency across the business
- Enable data science and ML teams with governed data and a clear path to production through strong practices and responsible AI standards
- Lead and grow the data capability, line-managing a team of senior technical leads

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
