Overview
Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As Director of Datacenter Field Operations Integration on the U.S. Airgap Clouds Datacenter Operations team, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's dedicated online services supporting the U.S. Government.
While our U.S. Airgap Clouds dedicated datacenter operations team has a sharp focus on serving our U.S. Government customers and helping them achieve federal missions, together, all of Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 100 datacenters and 1 million servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

Responsibilities
As the Director of Datacenter Field Operations Integration for the U.S. Airgap Clouds Datacenters, you will be our voice and partner with peer groups across multiple organizations to drive excellence in data center design standards, construction, commissioning, utilization, while ensuring seamless onboarding of newly launched facilities into the field operations portfolio. Specific areas of focus include:
- Empower a culture of safety, security and compliance in all aspects of datacenter operations
- Enhance existing end to end process into a seamless onboarding experience for newly launched facilities, into field operations
- Evaluate, strategically optimize, and drive a program to gain efficiencies in short- and long-term utilization across our data center fleet
- Employ clear lines of communication and feedback considering lessons learned between field operations and peer teams related to data center design and construction
- Represent field operations needs and interests while new facilities are advancing through various early stages and into commissioning and turnover ensuring the highest standards in quality, reliability, availability and safety are met
- Collaborate with Datacenter Managers and Regional Datacenter Directors to ensure operating procedures are documented accurately and that appropriate training and hand-offs are conducted during the onboarding process of new facilities with precision timing
- Manage escalations and issues that may arise by partnering with peer organizations to ensure appropriate resolutions are sought and implemented minimizing impact to service delivery and commissioning timelines
- Foster an understanding of the various stakeholders, their interests, and needs ensuring the teams can sustain and embrace the changes through clear communications, engagement, and appropriate governance throughout onboarding and integration of newly owned and leased facilities into field operations

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Significant leadership and business management experience in a production datacenter environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional ability to collaborate, openly communicate, present, and negotiate effectively across groups of various levels and disciplines, such as government entities, senior company leaders, engineers, suppliers, partners, technicians, customers, etc.
- Experience in leading, directly managing, and influencing a diverse organization of full-time employees, across multiple disciplines and platforms
- Demonstrated experience delivering results with ambiguous and changing business requirements, with strong ability to work independently and effectively in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities
- Background in data center design, construction, and infrastructure operations and experience in planning and executing data center transformational programs
- Experience with design of next generation data center networks enabling cloud computing including technologies such as network virtualization, unified network fabric, and software defined networks
- A solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and forecasting
- Awareness of IT Service Operations fundamentals and principles. (ITIL, MOF, OLA/SLA, CSI, etc.)
- Project or program management experience and certification(s) (e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen, PMI, etc.)
Pay Information
- Data Center Operations Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across Ireland is € 106,300.00 - € 188,800.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. - Data Center Operations Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across United Kingdom is £ 100,900.00 - £ 186,500.00 per year. - Data Center Operations Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across Netherlands is € 106,400.00 - € 193,700.00 per year. - Data Center Operations Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across Spain is € 72,000.00 - € 124,300.00 per year.
