Overview
There has never been a more exciting time to join Screwfix.
Screwfix is one of the UK's most successful and fastest-growing retailers, with over 1,000 stores, revenues of c.£2.5bn and a clear position as the UK & ROI's largest multi-channel retailer of trade tools, plumbing, electrical and hardware products. Our success is built on a simple but powerful customer purpose: helping our customers get their jobs done quickly, affordably and right first time.
Digital sits at the heart of that proposition. Over 75% of the business is driven through our digital ecosystem, with customers moving seamlessly between our website, app, stores, Click & Collect and delivery services. From Sprint, our 20-minute delivery proposition, to personalised digital experiences, we continue to raise the bar for convenience in the trade sector.
Last year we launched Screwfix Rewards, now the UK's biggest trade loyalty programme, creating an even stronger connection with our customers and opening up new opportunities to deliver more personalised and rewarding experiences.
With continued investment in digital platforms, customer data and AI capabilities, we have strong foundations for the next phase of growth. We're looking for an exceptional ecommerce leader to build on that momentum, accelerating app growth, enhancing personalisation, improving customer experience and ensuring Screwfix remains at the forefront of digital retail innovation.
The Role
As Director of Ecommerce, you will be a senior leader within the Digital & Data function, reporting to our Digital & Data Director. Working closely with them and the wider leadership team, you will define and deliver the next chapter of Screwfix's ecommerce strategy.
You will inherit a highly successful digital business, with responsibility for online sales of c.£1.6bn and a significant digital marketing budget. Your remit spans web, app, digital trading, CRO and Sprint, our 20-minute delivery proposition, balancing delivery today with building the capabilities that will drive future growth.
As a senior leader, you will also play a critical role in developing and leading a high-performing ecommerce team. We will need a skilled people leader who can inspire, coach and empower colleagues, build strong leadership capability across the function, and create an environment where talent can thrive while delivering outstanding business results.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
