Lead Engineering Excellence in a Regulated, Safety-Critical Environment
Delta Mobrey is a specialist engineering and manufacturing business supplying critical products and solutions to customers operating in the nuclear, defence, energy, oil & gas, marine and process industries worldwide. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and develop our international Engineering function across our sites in the UK, Bulgaria and Malaysia. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role combines strategic engineering leadership with accountability for engineering governance, technical integrity and organisational capability. We are looking for an engineering leader who can build high-performing teams, strengthen engineering disciplines and ensure that engineering solutions demonstrably satisfy customer requirements, regulatory obligations and product performance expectations.
The Opportunity:
This is a highly influential leadership role within a growing international engineering organisation. You will be responsible for leading the Engineering function whilst ensuring that engineering activities are undertaken within a robust framework of requirements management, design assurance, verification, validation and compliance. You will work closely with our Chief Engineer, who will support your understanding of our products, customers, applications and market sectors. Whilst prior knowledge of Delta Mobrey products is not essential, you will be expected to bring the engineering leadership, governance and technical credibility necessary to lead the function from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Governance & Design Assurance
- Establish and maintain robust engineering governance processes.
- Ensure customer requirements are translated into clear, traceable engineering specifications.
- Lead requirements management disciplines across the engineering lifecycle.
- Ensure engineering solutions meet customer specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Drive best practice in design reviews, verification, validation, qualification and product acceptance.
- Strengthen configuration management, engineering change control and technical risk management processes.
- Ensure engineering evidence supports compliance, product integrity and customer acceptance.

Product Development & Compliance
- Support product development, new product introduction and lifecycle management activities.
- Lead engineering input into certification, qualification and compliance activities.
- Work closely with Quality, Operations and Supply Chain functions to support product performance and manufacturability.
- Drive continuous improvement of engineering systems, processes and tools.
- Support the ongoing development of products for highly regulated and safety-critical applications.
Engineering Leadership
- Develop and deploy the Engineering strategy in support of Company objectives.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across the UK, Bulgaria and Malaysia.
- Develop engineering capability, succession plans and future engineering leaders.
- Create a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Ensure Engineering delivers against agreed quality, cost and schedule objectives.
Business & Customer Leadership
- Support business growth through innovation and engineering excellence.
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and regulatory bodies.
- Contribute to strategic planning as a member of the senior leadership team.
- Ensure engineering resources are effectively prioritised and aligned to business objectives.
About You
You will be an experienced engineering leader with a strong technical foundation and a proven track record of delivering engineering excellence within regulated engineering environments. You may currently hold a role such as:
- Director of Engineering
- Head of Engineering
- Product Engineering Director
- Chief Engineer with significant leadership responsibility
- Technical Authority or Design Authority with organisational leadership experience
Most importantly, you will have experience leading requirements-driven engineering organisations where product performance, compliance, safety and customer satisfaction are critical.

Essential Experience
- Translating customer requirements into robust engineering solutions.
- Development and implementation of engineering processes and standards.
- Nuclear, defence, aerospace, marine, oil & gas, process instrumentation or other regulated industries.
- Requirements-led product development.
- Configuration management and engineering change control.
- Design, engineering and manufacturing environments.
- Engineering governance and design assurance.
- Verification, validation and qualification processes.
- Product compliance in regulated industries.
- Leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Managing engineering teams across multiple sites or international locations.
- Balancing technical, operational and commercial priorities.
Highly Desirable Experience
- Design Authority, Technical Authority or Chief Engineer responsibilities.
- Product certification and regulatory compliance.
- Systems engineering principles.
- Chartered Engineer status.
