Director of External Affairs
Salary: £105,000 – £110,000 + excellent benefits, including 27 days holiday, 2:1 pension (up to 12% employer contribution), plus many more
Location: Hybrid with 12 days per month in the office or at events and meetings in London and across the UK. Note: the external spokesperson aspects of this role will necessitate attendance at ad hoc evening events and engagements in London

As Director of External Affairs, you will have the opportunity to strengthen Fair4All Finance’s voice, reputation and reach, while developing the relationships and partnerships that turn ambition into measurable impact. This role is instrumental in delivering our strategic priority of influencing systematic change.
As a member of our Strategic Leadership Team and a key spokesperson for the organisation, you will work closely with our CEO and senior colleagues while building trusted relationships across financial services, civil society, government, regulation, funding and the media. This is a broad and visible role offering the freedom to help shape strategy, influence major partners to innovate for good, lead a talented multidisciplinary team and use your expertise to influence change across an entire financial services system.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for an accomplished and inclusive senior leader with significant experience in communications, external affairs, public affairs or business development, gained within financial services, a regulated sector or a purpose-led organisation.
You will be an outstanding communicator and credible spokesperson, with a strong track record of building influential senior relationships and turning opportunities into impactful partnerships. Collaborative, strategic and comfortable navigating complexity, you will be motivated by the opportunity to use your leadership and influence to improve financial inclusion and create lasting change.

Key Responsibilities
- Leading the development and delivery of our external communications and engagement plan, ensuring it supports Fair4All Finance’s strategic priorities and systems-change goals.
- Building and actively managing a strong pipeline of strategic relationships and partnership opportunities across financial services and wider civil society.
- Shaping our brand, external positioning and stakeholder messaging, strengthening our reach, influence, credibility and reputation.
- Influencing and engaging senior stakeholders across financial services, government, regulation, civil society, funding organisations and delivery partners.
- Acting as a senior spokesperson for Fair4All Finance at external events, stakeholder meetings and in the media.
- Leading and developing a multidisciplinary team of communications and engagement professionals, creating an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing culture.
What you will bring
- Significant senior leadership experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, partnerships, business development, public affairs or a related field.
- A strong track record of developing communications and engagement strategies that deliver organisational objectives and measurable impact.
- Demonstrable success in building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and converting opportunities into impactful partnerships and collaborative activity.
- A strong understanding of the financial services ecosystem and experience of influencing senior decision-makers in complex stakeholder environments.
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with the credibility to engage senior audiences, shape debate and galvanise action.
- Experience of leading, motivating and developing multidisciplinary teams while fostering an inclusive and high-performing culture.
