Job Title: Director of Finance and Operational Support
Salary:
£90,000 - £110,000, performance related bonus up to £10k + benefits
Location:
Bath – hybrid (2-3 days per week in office)
Join one of the UK's leading Public Sector Procurement SaaS businesses in a newly expanded Executive leadership role. As the business continues to grow, Contracts Advance requires a Director of Finance and Operational Support (DoFOS) to join our Executive Management team.
CA is a rapidly growing Software as a Service (SaaS) business based in Bath. We help clients find and win public sector contracts across all sectors and have a strong and proven track record, with thousands of customers utilising our products and services.
This role will involve working closely with the Board, Executive Team and senior managers to deliver company and departmental objectives while ensuring strong cross-functional collaboration across the organisation.
Your Impact:
As Director of Finance and Operational Support, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Contracts Advance.
Reporting directly to the Board, you'll provide strategic financial leadership, commercial oversight and operational support across the business. You'll act as a trusted advisor to the Board, helping drive sustainable growth through robust forecasting, insightful performance reporting, strong governance and operational excellence.
This is a rare opportunity to join an ambitious SaaS business at Executive level, influencing key decisions that support the next phase of growth while ensuring the business remains commercially focused and operationally efficient.
This role will cover three main areas:
Financial Leadership:
- Own and develop the finance function, delivering accurate reporting, forecasting, budgeting, cashflow management and strategic financial insight to support sustainable growth.
Commercial:
- Provide commercial challenge and governance across the business, overseeing supplier contracts, risk management, compliance activities and investment readiness initiatives.
Operational Support:
- Partner with the Executive Team to drive operational effectiveness, accountability and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring key projects, policies and performance initiatives are delivered successfully.
Day to day you will:
- Lead and develop the Finance function, ensuring it is structured and scalable to support continued growth.
- Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, financial reporting and Board reporting packs within agreed timeframes.
- Own financial forecasting, budgeting, scenario planning and long-term strategic modelling.
- Analyse financial and operational performance, identifying trends and providing recommendations that improve business outcomes.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Board, providing commercial challenge, financial scrutiny and strategic insight.
- Develop and evolve KPI frameworks, reporting tools and management information across the business.
- Develop and enhance SaaS performance reporting, including ARR, MRR, retention and cohort analysis.
- Oversee cashflow, debtor management and overall financial performance.
- Ensure robust financial controls, governance frameworks and compliance processes are maintained.
- Support potential future investment readiness activities.
- Own the governance, review and negotiation of key supplier contracts and commercial agreements.
- Maintain and evolve company policies and procedures in partnership with CA’s solicitors.
- Own supplier risk management processes and maintain an effective commercial risk register.
- Support business continuity planning, governance and regulatory compliance activities.
- Work closely with the Executive Team to improve cross-functional collaboration and operational effectiveness.
- Drive accountability and performance reporting across the organisation.
- Ensure operational projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Oversee HR and operational policies alongside the Business Support Manager to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
- Contribute fully as a member of the Executive Team, supporting wider business initiatives and strategic growth plans.

Essential Experience:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- 7+ years' experience in senior finance leadership roles.
- Solution driven with a commercial driven and enquiring mind.
- Proven experience within a scaling SME, SaaS or technology-led business.
- Strong experience producing management accounts, Board reporting and financial forecasting.
- Demonstrable success leading and developing finance teams.
- Track record of building financial models, KPI frameworks and performance reporting processes.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence decision-making at Executive and Board level.
- Experience managing cashflow, budgets and financial planning within a growth-focused business.
- Strong understanding of governance, compliance, risk management and financial controls.
- Experience partnering with senior stakeholders to improve business performance.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear recommendations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable operating strategically while remaining hands-on when required.
- Experience using finance and business systems, including platforms such as Xero, Sage and CRM systems.
