Director of Finance & Business Services

UK Remote | Permanent | £95,000–£110,000 DOE

Candidates must be based in the UK with a full right to work (Preferably within commuting distance to London)

We are supporting a growing, purpose-led organisation with the appointment of a senior finance leader to take ownership of its UK finance function and provide financial oversight across a portfolio of substantial grant-funded programmes. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical accounting, statutory responsibility, team management and senior stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the integrity of the UK entity’s financial records, month-end and year-end close
  • Lead statutory reporting, annual accounts and external audit
  • Act as the senior technical lead for UK charity accounting, including FRS 102, Charities SORP and restricted funds
  • Oversee management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and financial controls
  • Provide financial oversight across a portfolio of grant-funded programmes and projects
  • Advise senior stakeholders on funding arrangements, accounting treatment and financial performance
  • Lead and develop a UK finance team
  • Improve systems, reporting and controls as the organisation continues to grow
  • Build strong relationships with programme leaders and external stakeholders

About you

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA qualification
  • Significant post-qualified finance experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK charity accounting and Charities SORP
  • Experience preparing or reviewing statutory accounts and leading audit
  • Experience within a sizeable charity, foundation, grantmaking organisation, international NGO or professional services environment supporting not-for-profit clients
  • Strong knowledge of restricted funds, grants and project/programme accounting
  • Experience leading a finance team
  • The credibility and communication skills to manage senior stakeholder relationships
  • Strong systems, Excel and process-improvement capability
