The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance & Governance will provide executive leadership and strategic direction across all aspects of finance and governance. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective stewardship of financial resources, maintaining robust governance frameworks, managing organisational risk, and supporting the Board to deliver the highest standards of corporate governance.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring a commercially minded and strategically focused individual who can balance financial excellence, governance, compliance and organisational growth.

Key Responsibilities

As Director of Finance & Governance, you will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of OneRen's financial strategy.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership, ensuring long-term sustainability and resilience.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, treasury management, statutory reporting and financial performance.
  • Lead governance, risk management, assurance and compliance activities across the organisation.
  • Act as a key adviser to the Board, Chief Executive and Executive Team on financial and governance matters.
  • Ensure effective internal control, audit and assurance frameworks are maintained.
  • Oversee procurement, contracts management, information governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead business continuity and organisational resilience planning.
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation and high-performance cultures across the organisation.
  • Promote transparency, accountability, ethical leadership and robust decision-making throughout OneRen.

About You

We are seeking an inspirational and experienced leader with a proven track record of operating at senior leadership or executive level.

  • Degree educated (or equivalent) with a relevant professional qualification.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).
  • Extensive senior leadership experience within a complex organisation.
  • Significant experience leading finance functions, including:
    • Strategic financial planning
    • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Treasury management
    • Statutory reporting
    • Commercial and financial analysis
  • Strong expertise in governance, risk management, assurance and compliance.
  • Experience working closely with Boards and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong strategic planning, performance management and change leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capability.

Desirable

  • Experience within the charity, public or third sector.
  • Understanding of public sector governance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Evidence of executive-level professional development.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Trade Unions and key external stakeholders.
