St Giles Hospice is seeking an outstanding Director of Finance & IT to join its Executive Leadership Team at a pivotal moment in the organisation's development. Following the appointment of a new CEO, a refreshed Board and the launch of an ambitious 2026-2030 strategy, this is a rare opportunity to help shape the long-term sustainability, performance and transformation of one of the region's leading charities.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance & IT will be responsible for the financial stewardship of a £15m organisation, ensuring the hospice has the resources, insight and infrastructure required to deliver its strategic ambitions. As a key member of the Executive Team, the postholder will play a central role in shaping organisational strategy, advising the Board and Trustees, and supporting informed decision-making through high-quality financial planning, analysis and risk management.

The role extends beyond traditional finance leadership. The successful candidate will lead the continued development of the hospice's technology and digital capabilities, ensuring systems, data and technology support exceptional patient care, fundraising performance, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. They will drive modernisation across finance and IT, identify opportunities for innovation and ensure the organisation is equipped to respond to an increasingly complex and challenging operating environment.
Leading a multidisciplinary Finance and IT team, the Director of Finance & IT will be responsible for financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting, treasury and cash management, statutory reporting, audit, risk, procurement, governance and technology. They will build strong relationships across the organisation, working closely with clinical and non-clinical leaders to improve commercial awareness, strengthen performance management and support the delivery of strategic objectives.
We are seeking a proven Finance Director, CFO, or senior finance leader with experience operating as the number one finance professional, capable of influencing and leading at Board and Executive level. Candidates will hold a recognised professional accounting qualification.

Experience of delivering digital transformation and financial sustainability initiatives will be important, as will the ability to combine strategic judgement with a practical, hands-on approach. Candidates may come from a range of sectors including charities/NfP, healthcare, education, retail, b2b or the Arts.
