About This Role
Contract summary:
- Contract length: Permanent
- Working hours: 40 per week, to include Saturdays and occasional Sundays
- Working weeks: Full time, 37 weeks per year (term time plus four weeks in the holidays)
The role:
The Director of Football will work in close partnership with the Master-in-Charge of Football to provide joint leadership of football at Harrow and to deliver the strategic vision for the game across the School. The role combines significant contact time through coaching, player and coach development and the delivery of the football programme, with non-contact time dedicated to programme development, planning, recruitment, coach development, external relationships and administration. The Director will maintain a visible and consistent presence across the football programme, including training and fixture days, and will contribute to the wider sporting life of the School throughout the year.
For more information please review the candidate pack attached as a separate document to this advertisement.
The skills:
This is an unusual opportunity for a leading practitioner with a UEFA B Licence or equivalent recognised coaching qualification to oversee the next stage of the development of the game in the School and build on the excellent work of recent years. The successful candidate will have an acknowledged track record of success in the game as a player and coach and is likely to include involvement within professional or academy football in some capacity. Experience of coaching high performing age group players is essential, though this may not necessarily be in an educational environment. The ability to build a team of coaches and support staff, and oversee their work is vital.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
