About the Role
Forsyth Barnes are delighted to be retained on an exclusive search for a Director of Growth with a fast-scaling, venture-backed sports technology and experiential leisure startup.
Backed by established industry leaders and institutional investors, the business is expanding rapidly across domestic and international markets.
Role Summary
As the Growth Director, you will take full strategic and operational ownership of the Marketing and Commercial functions. You are a customer-obsessed, highly data-driven commercial leader tasked with scaling our membership base and driving top-line revenue.
Inheriting a foundational team, you will manage a dedicated Head of Marketing (who is pivoting to focus heavily on Product and International expansion) and collaborate with an experienced Fractional CMO moving into an advisory capacity. Your core focus will be optimizing the commercial model, accelerating subscriber acquisition, maximizing customer lifetime value (LTV), and ensuring our venues hit peak utilization.

Key Responsibilities
- Commercial & Growth Strategy: Define and execute the overarching growth strategy to scale the membership and subscription architecture across all venues.
- Revenue & Utilization Optimization: Own the B2C and B2B revenue pipelines. Develop data-led pricing, packaging, and promotional strategies to maximize venue utilization and recurring member revenue.
- Data & Performance Analytics: Establish a deeply analytical growth culture. Track, analyze, and optimize the entire customer acquisition funnel, monitoring key metrics such as CAC, LTV, churn, and ROI.
- Customer Obsession & Retention: Deeply understand member behavior to improve the customer journey, reduce churn, and build a highly engaged, loyal sports community.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor the internal marketing function. Guide the Head of Marketing on product positioning and international market readiness, while leveraging strategic insights from our Advisory Fractional CMO.
- B2B Partnership Growth: Support the commercial frameworks required to attract new host venues, including sports clubs, educational institutions, and commercial property partners.
- Budget Accountability: Manage the total commercial and marketing budget, ensuring strict alignment with efficiency metrics and aggressive ROI targets.

Skills & Experience
- Subscription/Membership Expertise: Proven track record of scaling subscriber bases and managing recurring revenue models (ideally within sports, leisure, health/fitness, or entertainment sectors).
- Commercial Acumen: A pure revenue-focused mindset with experience owning a P&L or heavy commercial KPIs.
- Data-Driven Mindset: Exceptional analytical skills; highly proficient in leveraging data platforms, CRM tools, and attribution models to make strategic growth decisions.
- Leadership Capabilities: Experience managing, inspiring, and structuring marketing/commercial professionals in a fast-paced environment.
- Agile & Dynamic: Comfortable navigating a scaling start-up environment, balancing high-level strategy with hands-on execution.
- Sporting Passion: A genuine interest in sports, sports technology, or experiential leisure is highly advantageous.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) and Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) growth
- Venue utilization rates and session sales yields
- Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) vs. Customer Lifetime Value (LTV) ratios
- Member retention and churn reduction percentages
